Gravelly trail segment south of Mitchell Hollow Road that connects to the trail

There’s a tentative plan to pave and light this trail section in 2026. This was made possible by DOT/DNR awards approved in 2023 totaling $515,841. Per DOT, this project cannot be awarded until July 1, 2026.

2024 DNR Award for Streamside Stabilization

An award of $100,000 will be used to match local funding of $100,000 to repair the streamside near lightpole #1 (near Chestnut Street bridge) and to repair the trail itself. In addition, streamside stabilization will be completed at two sites east of the railroad bridge (that’s north of Mineral Street). If funds remain, streamside stabilization and trail repair will be done near The Annex. Bid opening will be on March 18, 2026 and awarded by the Common Council on April 14, 2026.

2026 DNR Streamside Stabilization Cycle Request

If The Annex streamside stabilization and trail repair is not funded with the 2024 award, the City plans for it to be part of the 2026 cycle request. Delta 3 is doing the City streamside inspection and any new areas needing repair will be added to the 2026 request.
