The Monster Dash Returns

Get your costumes ready for this year’s Monster Dash 5K Run/Walk at the Platteville Community Arboretum trail on October 21st.

“This is a really fun Halloween event with costumes,” Bob Hundhausen, chair of the PCA Activities Committee, said. “We see a lot of goofy ensembles. We give away prizes by categories and have event shirts for the participants.”

He said the past three events have drawn as many as 100 participants. He hopes this year’s event, the organization’s fourth fun run, is as successful. He and the organizing committee have been working hard to secure sponsors to help with the expenses of the event.

The biggest change this year is the starting line. In past years, the trail started at Mound View Park, but event organizers have decided to keep the Monster Dash entirely on the Rountree Branch Trail this year. It will start near the fish garden, across from the City Garage, on Valley Road.

The registration begins at 9 a.m. with the participants dashing off at 10 a.m. Parking is available at the City Garage on Valley Road.
